Soror Venese Morgan elected to Motivating Excellence Board of Supervisors PDF Print E-mail

Soror Venese Morgan has been elected to the student member seat reserved for Southern University on the Motivating Excellence Board of Supervisors.

Her term begins November 1, 2010.

Morgan is the 2010-2011 chief justice of the Southern University Baton Rouge campus’s Student Government Association. The San Jose California native is the Undergraduate Student Assistant for Louisiana State Senate President Pro Tempore The Honorable Sharon Weston Broome, and she is a member of the Beta Alpha Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated on the campus of Southern University.

The Board of Supervisors’ role is to plan, coordinate, and have budgetary responsibility for all the Motivating Excellence Chapter(s) and programs.


“This is a great honor,” Morgan said. “I will try to give Motivating Excellence and all of its SU members a greater voice in how we can ensure all students have an equal opportunity in society and a brighter future.

Board of Supervisors Chairman & System CEO Montrell McCaleb who will preside over the board through 2014 stated that he looks forward to working with Ms. Morgan and he is confident she will make an excellent board member.

Morgan is the second member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated to be selected to a major in the Motivating Excellence Banquet since the dedication program a few weeks ago in which SGRHO International President Joann Loveless served as a speaker.  Ace Herrera was selected as Chief of Staff a few weeks ago and has since then been promoted to Chief Administrative Officer.

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated holds a special place in our hearts McCaleb stated. Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated is one of the few organization’s that sticks to its Mission, Principles and Core Values.

Morgan will replace Outgoing Student Board Representative Jakina Jacob whose terms ends October 31, 2010. Morgan is a Senior Marketing Major at Southern University A&M College.
